Friday I’ll head home, hug my wife, say I’m exhausted, and crash watching Point Break–yes guilty–or listening to something on repeat. Lately it’s been early Sonic Youth, Lou Doillon and Bowie.
We recently moved, as we all tend to do in NYC, and purged just about all of our furniture and home goods. I’ll be visiting the normal spots to start the never-ending search for not finding anything to be imperfectly perfect and purchase worthy. My wife and I slept on our mattress for 6 months because we could’t find the right bed. Olde Good Things, Brooklyn Flea, and ABC are on the list and I’ve got my eye on a hand-made rocking chair from Vermont. Also, looking for a vintage drafting table to work on those “special projects.” I mean you have to have the right table to bring a sketch to reality.
Sundays I cook. Mind you, I’m no chef, but I can get down in the kitchen. I’m a key ingredients and less-is-more guy when it comes to food. Butter, salt, pepper, fresh veg., a protein, and I’m all set. All about the cook. Writing this I think I’ll do my brown butter basted steak. Reading this I’ll most likely just go to Keens.
The above will inevitably be pushed aside to hang with friends, get a little loose and enjoy the last days of Summer.
