Not only are our colleagues hard working, highly talented, and incredibly well-dressed, but they also lead fabulous lives outside the office. In our ongoing series designed to incite adventures (and, sometimes, envy), here’s what’s on the long-weekend docket of Gilt Man’s Director of Merchandising for contemporary and denim, Andrew Powell.
I’m off to Amagansett for the long weekend. I’ve been traveling the past few weeks for work in Chicago and Las Vegas and I am looking forward to a relaxing long weekend with friends. I always try and make time to play golf when I travel, and Long Island has some of the best courses in the world. I was fortunate enough to play Shinnecock Hills a few weeks ago and next weekend my friend Alex has invited me back out to catch the Walker Cup at National Golf Links.
I get bored at the beach so I usually suggest wine tasting for a few hours instead. My friend Joey and her husband Max run a great winery called Wolffer in Sagaponack. They have a fun wine stand right off Montauk Highway so that’s usually my first stop. From there, I like to take the ferry from Sag Harbor up to Southold and check out some wineries on the North Fork.
My younger brother’s buddy Pete takes his Regulator Offshore Sportfishing boat from Connecticut to Montauk almost every weekend. He’ll be out that way for Labor Day so I’m sure we will find time to grab a beer together on the docks.
Above all I hope to relax at the house, stay by the pool and make lots of food. And most importantly — I plan on eating lots of corn before the summer is over!
