Jean Machine’s J.M-1 Slim Pair

Good enough for 1991-era Brad Pitt, good enough for me.

I’ve spent a good few hours over the past couple years trying to find something that I thought no longer existed: A pair of washed-out American-blue jeans with no whiskering, no lycra and no silly details, the likes of which Levi’s used to make that Brad Pitt once wore in Thelma and Louise (hey, they were good jeans). The rise in heritage menswear and raw-obsessed denimheads has meant that every jeans brand worth its salt is so focussed on obscure Japanese mills and centuries-old American manufacturers that classics like the stonewashed pair have been all but forgotten. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered this pair by Jean Machine — the newly relaunched collection from a company that had its heyday in 1970s London — they’re slim without being skinny, faded without any extraneous crotch whiskers, and for the puritan, made from quality Japanese denim. And best of all, they’re on sale today.
