A great wardrobe demands an equally great vacation place in Sag Harbor.

Gilt Home creative director Tom Delavan is a widely regarded figure in the world of home decor. A lesser known fact? Dude knows how to dress, too. To celebrate his all-American, casually classic approach to style (and to make us feel better about constantly hitting him up for advice on sofas, bedding, and what color to paint our kitchen), we felt it was only fitting to feature Tom as a Man of Style. Here, a few words on how Mr. Delavan puts his signature look together, followed by a slideshow highlighting a few key components of Tom’s style.

How would you describe your approach to style?
Well, I don’t spend too much time talking about my own look for fear of sounding like a horse’s ass, but I try to wear things that won’t look ridiculous when I look at them in photos 20 years from now. Maybe…American? Wearable?

Both good things. How did you choose the items that made it into the sale?
I really tried to find things that I would really wear, over and over, things that would be my favorites.

What are your favorite pieces in the sale?
The Naked & Famous Weird Guy Jeans or the Gant Rugger Oxford shirt — and for home, the Schmidt Brothers Chef Knife.

How has your style evolved over the past couple years?
I have always been a creature of habit, but it has lately become even more pared down. I really seem to have my favorites and I stick to those. I wear navy shirts so often that one day I showed up in a green shirt and people kept coming up to me looking concerned and asking me, “Are you okay, is everything all right?”

How do you expect to be dressing differently two years from now?
Funny that you should ask that, I noticed I wear the same thing now that I wore when I was 11. I do think I need to bump it up a notch. Maybe more blazers. I am also craving the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona, but then I question my priorities.

Who’s the most stylish guy you know?
A Persian architect called Ahmad Sardar Afkhami. He wears colors and scarves tied in elaborate knots, things I could never pull off.

What’s one thing every guy should be wearing right now?
A well-fitting navy linen button down.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten?
Bobby Flay and Stephanie March are clients of mine. I was out at their house one day doing some work, and Bobby made us burgers. I figured it would be good, but I had no idea how much better Bobby’s burger could be. I remember sitting in the kitchen saying, “This is a REALLY good burger,” like he’s never heard that before.

Who would you like to see featured as a Man of Style?
I think Vladamir Roitfeld always looks cool.

You’re an interiors guy. What’s one simple thing every man can do to spruce up his home?
Get really nice bedding. It will make the bedroom look great and you and anyone in your bed feel better about things.
