"The better you dress, the worse you can act."

The fourth subject in our series of sales inspired by New York Fashion Week street style is male model Paul Kelly, a Canadian native who’s got some of the best fashion sense in the business. Photographer Liam Goslett shot him outside the Michael Bastian show — which he’d just walked — looking like he’d just stepped off the plane from Pitti Uomo. Head over to Gilt to shop his look, but first, a few words from the man himself.

How would you describe your look?
Get up and go.

How differently do you dress for fashion week than everyday life?
Not too differently. A little more lax than straight up suit-and-tie My grandfather always told me, “The better you dress, the worse you can act.” He was a great man.

Best thing you’ve seen so far during Fashion Week.
I saw someone in a Lamborghini drive into a taxi while I was walking home from the Michael Bastian show. That made me giggle. What a dingus.

Does working with great stylists and designers influence the way you dress?
It does but my grandfather shaped my style more than any designer or stylist ever could.

Who are your style icons and why?
Gregory Peck has always been an icon of mine. Dean Martin is up there as well. He gets the backseat being with Frank Sinatra, but he was so cool.

What’s on your shopping list right now?
Phineas Cole has some pretty amazing things that catch my eye. I am also looking for a leather ‘cafe’ style moto jacket. It’s very particular in my head. I’m sure that’s something that’ll find me when I’m not looking for it.

Random bonus question: What’s the best thing about September?
Autumnal foods, cooler weather, layers, pumpkin everything!
