Top-knots with a suit is what we call risky business. (Don't worry, this dude's a pro.)

The third subject in our series of sales inspired by New York Fashion Week street style is menswear blogger Jake Metzger (who also happens to be a professional political risk consultant, a Maine native, dachshund lover, and a supremely nice guy). Photographer Liam Goslett shot him looking typically fly outside the shows. Head over to Gilt to shop his look, but first, a few words from the man himself.

How would you describe your look?
Lawrence Schlossman circa 2011.

How differently do you dress for fashion week than everyday life?
I don’t dress differently to be honest, although I see nothing wrong with doing so. I often head to events directly from work, so it’s pretty seamless.

Best thing you’ve seen so far during Fashion Week.
Ovadia & Sons, hands down. It’s nice to see a collection that you can see yourself in top to bottom. To watch the progression of their brand over the past few years has been nothing short of incredible.

Does working in finance influence the way you dress?
I’ve been lucky enough to work in an environment which has allowed me to experiment a little, but it does put some bounds on how far I can go. The Street in general is definitely pretty rigid when it comes to the unspoken dress code, but I think guys are starting to learn that they can dress for themselves, even within the confines of a suit and blazer regimen.

Who are your style icons and why?
I like to observe and learn from everyone I can, but if I had to name a couple I’d go with Alain Delon from the past and Valentino Ricci from the present. They seem to carry themselves so effortlessly and with the perfect amount of measured, subtle elegance.

What’s on your shopping list right now?
I’d like to get a suit or two and a few knits for the winter. I wouldn’t say no to a new pair of shoes as well.

bonus question: What’s the best thing about September?
Fall is here. My favorite season.
